So you´d never guess what happened. Two days ago Rich dumped me. Compleatly out of the blue. I´d just got back from having my legs waxed and he tells me he´s having second thoughts and voila I´m single. So now I´m at the airport and going to Thailand on my own. Well i wasn´t going to let him have the satisfaction of ruining my holiday. Or if i am being really truthful, it is more that i had no where else to go as i didn´t want to give my friends and family the satisfaction of giving me the í told you so´s.
Anyway I´m sure Thailand I´ll get on just fine. I mean how hard could travelling be. Everyone seems to do it. Yep suitcase checked. I´m off. Just need to get through the 14 hour flight. Whoop whoop! Jenna x

Well I made it safe and sound to Bangkok. I’ve arrived in what feels like another world to my guest house in Khao San Road. I’ve never seen anything quite like it in my life. I think I was prepared for it to feel alien, but it is not like I’d imagined at all. It’s like being at a hustley bustley market, yet in sweltering heat with all the shopkeepers shouting at you every where you go. Every time I pick anything up they keep showing me other things and muttering “same same but different”. But it is more western than I expected, there’s even a Boots! Which was ace as I realised I hadn’t forgotten my make up!
There are also loads of people. Well not people, but backpackers. You walk along the street and you might as well be in London. It’s a bit weird though as it is making me feel really lonely. Everyone seems to be travelling with someone, or seem to bump into people they know as they walk down the street. Just how long have these people been here?? And how do they meet each other. I thought loads of people travelled alone, but since I’ve got here I haven’t seen many people on their own at all. I’m usually quite content with my own company (which is a good thing the amount of hours I put in at work after most people go home). Maybe it’s the jetlag talking. I can’t be homesick I’ve been here less than 24 hours. And plus, this place seems fab I just need to find some people to enjoy it with. Well tomorrow I’m going to go and sightsee outside of the Khao San Road. It took me a good 4 hours this morning to coax myself out of the room, but tomorrow I think I will be brave enough to explore on my own. Kate x I can’t believe it; I’m at the departure lounge at Heathrow. My flight is a little delayed because of the snow, but it is still going! I can’t believe I got all my work done in time. I’ve even managed to find time to paint my toenails. So I am officially ready!
To be truthful I am totally petrified. I’ve never been travelling before. The furthest I’ve been outside of Europe was a shopping holiday in New York. For once I’m feeling very out of my depth! I’m also rubbish at packing my back pack. I threw everything in at the last minute so goodness knows what sort of state it’ll be in when I collect it at the other end. I’m sure there must be a method to packing it that doesn’t involve standing in it to squish everything done. I’ve been so busy at work that I haven’t had much time to do any research. I have got a couple of guidebooks with me though so I hope to have a good read and plan on the plane. I’m spending the first two days in Bangkok so if anyone wants to give me any advice of things to do or see then please do! Also in general any tips on how to back pack would me much appreciated!!! Kate x x Well this is is folks. This time next week Rich and I will be off on our South East Asian extravagazna. I've bought a billion bikinis to keep me sorted for the islands. I finally tracked down some amazing sunglasses, on sale.
I'm dead excited. I've only got 5 more days of work. I couldn't be happier that i've quit. Although my parents did give me a good lecture. At least when we get home i'll be living with Rich so i can be a bit more fussy about my next job. Right well i am off for a pedicure so i can pop those flip flops on as soon as i step off the plane! Whoop whoop! Then for the rest of the week I've got to work out what to put in the very small suitcase (Rich won't let me take my usual monster!). Jenna x |
